Verses & Epitaphs

Verses and epitaphs are used to make a memorial or monument inspirational and historical.  Some choose to remember loved ones by using favorite scriptures while others may opt for favorite quotes.  There are no rules; however, you must keep in mind any cemetery regulations that may limit content as well as costs that accrue when lettering becomes extreme.  These verses and epitaphs are universal and have been taken from a variety of sources.  They can be used alone or as great guides in creating your own.

Rest In Peace

Gone, but not forgotten

In Loving Memory of

Entered into rest

At rest

Until we meet again

Forever in our hearts

Always in our hearts

To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die

Too well loved to ever be forgotten

Loving memories last forever

In perfect peace

Hasten, oh blessed hour of reunion

Your love will light my way, your memory will ever be with me

No pain, no grief, no anxious fear can reach our loved one sleeping here

Always loving – always loved

To know her/him was to love her/him

He/She sleepeth with those he/she loved
Our love will live on forever

A beautiful memory lingers

Our loved one

In silence we remember

Life’s work well done

Ever remembered – ever loved

Never will your memory fade

A day of duty done… a day of rest begun

Fondly loved and deeply mourned

We would miss you more, did we not know that we would see you soon

It must be awesome to see a rainbow from above

At rest with God

Asleep in Jesus

Asleep in Christ Jesus

Home with God, which is far better

Everlasting lift through Christ

Beloved of the Lord

Not lost to memory… not lost to love… but gone to our Father’s house above

Death is only a shadow across the path to Heaven

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace

Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal

Into thy hands, O Lord

In God have I put my trust

He/She was beloved by God and man

Shed no tears for me – I am with my savior

We shed no tears for this Christian soul – only for our loss

Female

To know even one life breathed easier because she lived Is to know she truly succeeded while here.

She never took no for an answer and pushed ahead when others paused.  But a kinder, gentler woman you will never meet again.

She appreciated every moment because she knew she might never be able to experience it again.

She took in all the wonders of life, wrapped them in a colorful package and gave it to us.  We will miss you!

The past is history.  The future, a mystery.  But we will hold dear our memories of her, her smile, the sound of her laughter… forever.

She did more than exist, she lived.  She did more than listen, she understood.  Rest peacefully, dear.

Goodbye to a wonderful mother and grandmother.  She lived a long and wonderful life, and was loved by all who knew her.  She will be dearly missed, but will live on in our hearts for generations.

Sleep on, sweet mother and wife, and take thy rest.  God called thee home, He thought it best.

She lives with us in memory and will for evermore

God took her home, it was his will, but in our hearts she liveth still

She is resting peacefully with Jesus in that beautiful home above

Her memory is enshrined in our hearts

Resting with those she loved

She served and kept the faith

She loved people and laughter

Her children rise up and call her blessed

Male

If there is another world, he lives in bliss.  If not another, he made the most of this.

He always stood for what was right and good.  And for this we shall forever cherish his memory.

What lies behind him and what lies before him are tiny matters compared to what lied within him.

He achieved success here because we lived well, laughed often and loved much.

He left the world knowing he was loved.  Nothing in life could be a more precious gift.

He always did the things he thought he couldn’t do.

He never heard opportunity knock because he was too busy building doors.

His true wealth was in his generous heart.  And what endless wealth he did have.

It is no the length of his life, but the depth.  He jumped into life and never touched bottom.

Infants/Children

Our beloved (son, daughter)

Ours for a little while, with Jesus forever

Sweetly sleeping

Jesus called a little child unto him

Our baby is in Heaven

Suffer little children to come unto me

He shall gather the lambs within his arms

Safe in the arms of Jesus

He whose love exceedeth ours hath taken home our child

Our darling one has gone before, to greet us on the blissful shore

Budded on earth to bloom in Heaven

And a little child shall lead them

Hush my dear, be still and slumber:  Jolly angels guard your bed

Sleep, my little one, sleep

God’s garden has need of little flowers

Remembering a tiny angel

So small, so sweet, so soon

Lord, we give you our littlest angel

For such is the Kingdom of Heaven

Called by one who loves him/her dearly

Let thy child rest in hope and rise in glory

The place of a sleeping angel

God needed another angel
